9 effective ways to reduce orange peel skin (cellulite) on your thighs and stomach

One of the most common female beauty problems, on a par with stretch marks, is probably the problem of cellulite or orange peel skin. No matter how many ‘solutions’ are available on social media, nothing can permanently get rid of it.

You may be wondering what the cause of cellulite is. It does not come from excessive fat in the body, in fact, it is caused by skin that has deteriorated to the point where fat cells can penetrate the upper layers of skin, leaving a dimpling effect. Typically these dimples appear on the stomach and thighs. Even if you are a fitness enthusiast and are slim, you still may have visible cellulite. Now, before we go into how to reduce this annoying problem, let’s learn a little about cellulite.

Getting to know cellulite

Cellulite lurks in the deepest layers of the skin, called the dermis. Our fat layer is divided into 2 parts: the soft fat layer (which is deepest) and the hard fat layer (which is between the soft fat layer and the dermis layer).

  • The soft fat layer is loosely packed together so fat cells can expand and contract as they provide energy. We can control this layer of fat by controlling the amount of food we eat and exercising.
  • The hard fat layer is our ‘friend’ known as cellulite, which 80-90 percent of women have. The amount of fat in this layer is determined by hormone levels, not by the amount of food you eat or exercise you take. Therefore, no matter how much you work out, it will not affect your cellulite. The hormone that has a direct impact on cellulite is the stress hormone, cortisol.
  • When the blood vessel walls of fat cells begin to leak, allowing water to seep out of the fat cells, this causes water retention.
  • The lymphatic circulation system begins to deteriorate, causing swelling.
  • Then cellulite begins to form in clumps, surrounded by scar tissue, with fibrous connective tissue surrounding the cells.
  • The connective tissue begins to pull on the skin, creating a wavy appearance, et voila – we have cellulite!

The evolution of cellulite is divided into 3 stages

Stage 1: Blood vessels in the dermis begin to deteriorate. Fluid begins to accumulate outside the cells. Symptoms of swelling in the joints begin to appear, but no significant changes are yet visible.

Stage 2: Fat cells begin to swell and begin to press on blood vessels, resulting in poor circulation. We begin to see orange peel skin when we twist our skin.

Stage 3: The collagen and elastin synthesis systems begin to weaken. Fibrous tissue begins to bind fat cells together into lumps. Cellulite starts to become more visible, forming dimples on the skin.

How to effectively reduce cellulite problems

If you are looking for a way to eliminate orange peel skin, especially on the thighs and abdomen – and prevent it from coming back – it is important to look after your skin. The 9 recommendations have a direct impact on the strength and youthfulness of your skin:

  1. Strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation
  2. Stimulate tissue production processes
  3. Stimulate collagen and elastin production
  4. Increase moisture in cells
  5. Repair cell membranes
  6. Reduce wastewater congestion
  7. Increase antioxidants
  8. Reduce inflammation
  9. Stimulate new cell production

So what must be done to achieve these results?
The main thing is to use products that nourish the skin. They should contain extracts such as aloe vera, Vitamin B, Coenzyme Q10, peptides, fennel, ginger, grapefruit, grape seed, lecithin, etc. Another hack to help reduce cellulite faster is to go to a spa for skin-strengthening treatments such as a Body Scrub, Body Wrap and Body Massage once a week.

Regular skin care treatments along with eating healthy whole foods will also help. When our skin cells receive good nutrients from both the outside and inside, it makes it easier for them to repair themselves.
